New research shows that the washing away of bridge foundations during floods disrupts 8.2 million passenger journeys in the UK per year, with a cost of up to £60 million.

The European Commission has announced a new humanitarian aid package worth €9 million to address the needs of families affected by violence in Myanmar, particularly those living in the Kachin, Shan and Rakhine states.
